Just too many good songs to view from Toad The Wet Sprocket. Brings me great feelings from the 90’s- of my own hints and highlights of my own memories of that time.

Should do the same for others as well.

Toad The Wet Sprocket was an institution back then. Certainly great stuff, and probably safe to say their music will withstand the test of time for many.

Here are several songs from couple of their albums.

This is old news, but just got wind of this and it’s fabulous.

What do you really need a space for if you’re not there all the time? Even if you are, clean lines are an inspiration.

Kudos. I need space like this, for sure.

“When Christian Schallert isn’t cooking, dressing, sleeping or eating, his 24 square meter (258 square feet) apartment looks like an empty cube. To use a piece of furniture, he has to build it”.

“Located in Barcelona’s hip Born district, the tiny apartment is a remodeled pigeon loft. Christian says its design was inspired by the space-saving furniture aboard boats, as well as the clean lines of a small Japanese home“.

Apple Inc has undoubtedly become one of the world’s most powerful business entities. Design, aesthetics, and coolness has affected the company’s weed-like growth, however, its manufacturing and logistical efficiencies was its key to market share dominance in the past decade.

But as a leader and in the name of progress, Apple has had its share of controversies especially its assumed acknowledgement of its partner manufacturer. FoxConn is a Taiwanese registered business, working several factories in China The persistent speculations on violations afflicted to its workforce still strongly resonate in the air, amidst Apple’s gargantuan successes.

The NY Post learned from a source describing, “Five pounds of cooked mashed potatoes, meanwhile, were left out at a temperature of 89 degrees, while 10 pounds of cooked rice and 50 turkey burgers were kept at 67 degrees”.

The source further added, “The refrigerator was at a rancid 60 degrees instead of 41 — jeopardizing the safety of 50 pounds of raw chicken wings, five pounds of raw shrimp and 100 turkey burgers”.

Right out of the latest “Kitchen Nightmares” episode, the 40/40 club, famous for its glitzy star studded events and for its famous rapper/producer Jay-Z, accumulated 69 health code violations before being shut down by inspectors for the second time.

The city has a health code violation tolerance of 28, until a vendor is relegated to a “C” status.

Couple of nights ago, the club re-launched celebrating its $10 million make over, with a star drenched gala. Highly respected guests, like Warren Buffett was a guest.

Ron Berkowitz, a spokesman for the club, and commenting on the health violations indicated, there wasn’t any “interruptions to service”.

Now, the bigger question is, why hadn’t the city already given the violation ridden 40/40 Club a “C” rating, long ago?

Mysteries will never cease.

Google is the last of its trouble for Yahoo! Firings and zero hirings, and take over might be imminent.

Yahoo! as we know it will not exist. With a hiring freeze, employee firings, and critical transition in business strategy looming, the company that helped build the reputation of the Internet/Tech “new market”, has regretfully been relegated to the sideline- along with diminishing influence and market share, resulting in perpetual loss to its close competitors.

In September 2011, Business Insider’s Pascal-Emmanuel Gobry suggested Yahoo! must act fast to its (remaining) strengths, “because at the moment, the company brand doesn’t stand for much of anything”. It was a good point then, however, a point Yahoo! did not heed.

More delightful days for Jerry Yang and David Filo (co-founders of Yahoo!)

You are ‘dead’ inside, if you don’t like space exploration.

Even if you are hard-core terrestrial-ist or is so pragmatic that you are just solid oak, when one sees visuals of and about space, can’t help but melt with awe and hearty gratitude for human curiosities.

Anyway, what are the mission’s goals?

  1. Determine whether Mars could ever have supported life
  2. Study the climate of Mars
  3. Study the geology of Mars
  4. Plan for a human mission to Mars

And what are its scientific objectives?

  1. Determine the mineralogical composition of the Martian surface and near-surface geological materials.
  2. Attempt to detect chemical building blocks of life (biosignatures).
  3. Interpret the processes that have formed and modified rocks and soils.
  4. Assess long-timescale (i.e., 4-billion-year) Martian atmospheric evolution processes.
  5. Determine present state, distribution, and cycling of water and carbon dioxide.
  6. Characterize the broad spectrum of surface radiation, including galactic radiationcosmic radiationsolar proton events andsecondary neutrons.

Well, just to remind you all, Curiosity, the latest of NASA’s rovers, is on the long road to Mars right now. And if you missed the launch, it was cool and here it is below for your view again.

And if you don’t know “how the rover will be roving around on the surface of Mars”, then take an artist realistic rendering of the Mini Cooper sized, high powered rover.

197 days to go. That’s around, four and half months to go (mid-June 2012).

We all like Betty White.

We all know her from the Golden Girls and most recent “obsession” by Hollywood and viewers/admirers alike, of her.

She was recently featured in a bit at the Golden Globes and she was a hit, as always.

Betty’s a dynamic gem of a person who, I’m sure will work until her last. That’s a good thing, because we all need a little Betty White in our lives, even if it was for a minute or two- reminding us how we still can push and flourish, no matter how old one becomes.

Kudos.

In 1997, a Chicago Tribune columnist named Mary Schmich wrote an article named “Wear Sunscreen”.

A manifesto statement towards the young, with the message of a “no regret life”, Schmich’s words inspired world wide.

And still to this day, it inspires- directly and indirectly. Many other emulating formats have come about from then.

However, the basic strength and power of the method in delivering such messages, is timeless.

Kudos.

Now, the article has been famously re-done in musical format by Baz Luhrmann.

To credit, the original inspiration for such kind of writing style is from an American poet and writer Max Ehrmann.

Original inspiration:                    Max Ehrmannn (1872-1945) poet

It is Edgar Allan Poe’s birthday on January 19th. Happy Birthday!

The poet and writer best know for his darkened mysteries and the macabre, Poe is one of literature’s staple and most celebrated of authors in human history.

His most famous works include:

Poe’s works have been put on the silver screen many times over by Hollywood. Vincent Price was one of the staple lead actor for several of Hollywood’s adoptions to Poe’s works, for example.
Education in literary genius is easy when going through his works. The dark side of his writing compliments the genuine emotions which spill on to the reader and listener.
Edgar Allan Poe is celebrated and will be celebrated for long time to come.
Kudos.
