WVU wins in dramatic fashion, as the Mountaineers rout Clemson in the 2012 BCS Orange Bowl, 70-33. The win represent WVU’s most dominating performance in its bowl playing history.

For the former Oklahoma State offensive coordinator and first year head coach of the Mountaineers, Dana Holgorsen, the results were as timely and punctuating the successful start to the Holgorsen era.

“The guys wanted to come in and make a statement, and the only way you can do that is if you play well on all three sides of the ball,” WVU coach Dana Holgorsen said.  “You don’t score 70 points by being good on offense,” Holgorsen said. “You score 70 points by being good on all three sides of the ball.”

Clemson (10-4), not having been in a Orange Bowl since their National Championship win back in 1981, could not keep up with the WVU (10-3) from all sides.

“We’re a better team than we played tonight. Just too many mistakes. But we’ll be back”, coach Dabo Swinney said.
